Personal bests impress coach

Blythe Barracudas were back in action at the weekend in the Profab Shield Swimming Gala held in Wombourne.

Blythe Barracudas were back in action at the weekend in the Profab Shield Swimming Gala held in Wombourne.

The Team unveiled their new chief coach Mark Sheldrick for his debut gala.

Despite missing many first choice swimmers Blythe put in a creditable performance with 15 personal best times on the night, of which Matt Austin contributed three PBs in his individual events and James Lewis 2.

There were strong performances in the 50m Backstroke for the 11 year olds with James Lee and Amy Lewis winning their respective events.

Blythe also achieved second place finishes with Jack Francis in the 12 year old 50m Breaststroke and Ben Austin in the 11 year old 50m Breaststroke.

A special mention must go out to Jessie Doyle who competed in her first ever gala and achieved two PB times.

Blythe finished fifth overall in the gala, the team showed great team spirit and will look to improve at the next gala in October.

Blythe barracudas are a small but very enthusiastic and friendly swimming club which always welcomes new members.
