The week got under way once more on Tuesday night for Solihull CC with a 10 mile TT on the K37 course. Eddy Priddy put in a fine 21-58 with Steve Mountford and Colin Williamson tying on 23-38. At the MC&AC 10 on the same night Steve Jenks put in a 27-10.
On the Thursday night Shirley RC were the hosts for regular 10 on the K1 course and Richard Eason was the best for the club with his 23-07. The night was won by Richard Bradley in 21-10 and Ruth Eyles was the 1st Woman with a fine 22-55. At the TM10 close by Steve Jenks clocked a 25-43 to improve on his time from Tuesday night.
It was a small field of veterans who turned up for the Ernie Clements 2 Day Race near Malvern on Saturday. Day 1 started with a 1.4 mile Prologue and Martin Russell rode well to take 5th spot in the 55+ category with a 4-18, closely followed by David Rutherford in 4-20 to take 6th spot. Pete Bye clocked a 4-56 to be in 32nd spot. In the afternoon’s race 1 Martin rode aggressively to break away but all three riders missed the vital break that sealed the results for the day. At the end of Day 1 Martin was 8th overall, David 9th and Pete 29th. On Sunday in Race 2 Martin got away with another rider only to be caught, and passed by the bunch with 6 miles to go. A few riders then managed to clip off the front with 4 miles to go and kept the gap till the end. In the following bunch sprint David Rutherford finished 4th and secured 10th place overall with Pete 29th.
