Renault Solihull Barons began their league campaign at Grimsby Redwings on Saturday, with a resounding victory.

The Barons’ superiority told as they went ahead after only 25 seconds, and then continued to score at regular intervals with period scores 8-0, 8-0 and 6-0.

Net minder Sam Hewitt managed to get an extremely rare shut out as the Barons won 22-0.

On Sunday, the Barons played top of the league side Sheffield, losing 8-5 after a battling display.

The Solihull side started the better of the two teams, with Rob Eley opening the scoring within two minutes, followed by another goal from Phil Lee.

But as the Barons began to tire in the game, Sheffield came back, and with the help of a few contentious penalties, ran out 8-5 winners.
