Rhythm girls strike gold at games

BLYTHE Valley rhythmic gymnasts recently returned from the North West regional competition with a clutch of medals.

BLYTHE Valley rhythmic gymnasts recently returned from the North West regional competition with a clutch of medals.

Nearly 100 gymnasts took part, from clubs as far afield as Scotland and the standard was extremely high.

Abigail Stokes excelled and dominated the Junior section, winning all four categories in which she competed.

Elsewhere Isobel Walker and Isabella Nicholson both won two gold medals in their respective age groups.

Daniella Bradbury also came home with a gold medal in the Novice Junior section for her excellent clubs routine and added a bronze with her hoop routine.

Kathryn Powell and Keeley Chamberlain both faced stiff opposition in their categories but managed to win bronze and silver medals respectively.

The club are holding a free taster day for any young gymnast aged five upwards on Wednesday April 15 from 10-2pm at Dickens Heath Community School.
