MONKSPATH motorist Richard Morrow opened up the 2009 Toyota Sprint Series last weekend with a 21st place finish overall.
The 33-year-old came 12th in his class after enduring a day of mixed emotions in his 1988 Celica Turbo.
“I struggled with a spin on my second run knocking my confidence, and a small brake problem,” he said.
“The track was suited to the lighter higher-powered cars, and my four wheel drive and suspension set up suits a twisty course.
“The car ran strongly throughout the day, with only the brakes causing an issue.
“Driving the track was a real test of nerve, as the way to a fast time was to get as close to the large unforgiving concrete walls of the banking.”
The sprint series now moves to the tight twisty track of Barkston Heath on May 3 which promises to be a very different challenge.
