SOLIHULL boxer Antonio Counihan has set his sights on following Amir Khan and James De Gale after enjoying a behind the scenes tour of the Olympic Park.
The 19-year-old Eastside Amateur Boxing Club lightweight joined a host of Olympic champions on Tuesday to celebrate the two-year countdown to London 2012.
Counihan, pictured, is on track for a place at the London Olympics following his selection for the British Development squad before the turn of the year.
“It was a brilliant experience to visit the Olympic Park,” said Counihan. “I had no idea how big it was.
“Now I’ve been there it seems more realistic and it really hits home that I could be there in two years, performing in front of everyone with the whole of Great Britain behind me.
“It is definitely the ultimate goal, 100 per cent, just to get to the Olympics. That’s all I want.
“I feel very confident at the moment and I am training hard and hopefully I will get there, do well there and then turn pro. That’s the dream!”
