Silhillians 24 Droitwich 12
The Sils Under 15 squad lifted the North Midlands Cup beating a very strong Droitwich side in the final.
Sils took an early lead with a try scored by outside centre Sam Montieri and this was coolly converted by full back Dom Marks. Droitwich very quickly levelled the score.
However, it was the Sils forwards that took control of the game winning and retaining good quality possession. Fly half George Gamlin spotted a gap in the Droitwich defence and jinked his way over the line to score the Sils second try.
Midway through the second half, winger Louis Roach extended the lead with a conversion from Marks.
Shortly afterwards Droitwich scored making it 19 -12 with a tense 10 minutes to go.
However, the Sils forwards regrouped and following a serious of driving phases, openside flanker Louie Reeves scored. The cup was won and lifted by captain Lawrence Finch.
Sils head coach Nigel Saunders said: “This is a tough competition to win. The whole squad had to raise their game again for Droitwich in the final - they did and thoroughly deserved their victory”.
