Old Sils 5 Redditch 1
SATURDAY saw a return to winning ways for the Old Sils’ hockey first team, after a disappointing start to the league, losing two of their games.
The Sils knew nothing less than victory against Redditch was good enough.
The game started well for them too, dominating possession, which led to an opening goal from Jamie Glynn from a short corner.
Sils continued to press and a special moment came when veteran James Sloane converted a short corner from the top of the ‘D’. As half time approached Alex Dooley bagged number three.
The second half started well with ex-captain Matthew Fell getting his name on the score sheet. With the Redditch players getting frustrated, their discipline dropped and were subsequently reduced to 10 men Andrew ‘Angie’ McIlwraith making it five.
Redditch may have been down but they weren’t out and they duly scored from a short corner.
