BARONS came out victorious in this National Ice Hockey league fixture thanks to a hat trick from debutant Joe Henry, writes Gareth Thomson.

Henry made an instant impact netting after only five minutes but the Barons lead was short-lived after a gap in their defence was exploited by Anton Egorov.

Henry scored his second just after the half hour, with Rich Slater adding a third.

Jake Larkin netted a fourth Barons goal in the final period but Sheffield showed their quality to pull back two goals to set up a barnstorming finish. However, two seconds from time, Henry scored his third to cap off a stunning debut.

The massive ‘A45 Derby’ returns as the Barons take on the Coventry Blaze in a West Midlands Challenge Cup fixture at Hobs Moat Ice Rink this Sunday 6pm.
