BOWLERS Freddie Eburah and Usman Awan wreaked havoc with the Whitchurch batting order as Moseley took a well earned 20pts to put them up into second in the first division of the Birmingham Cricket League.

Eburah took three for 44 from 10 and off spinner Awan five for 44 from 17, three in conjunction with wicketkeeper Jason Robinson, as the Streetsbrook Road side patiently screwed down the Shropshire batsmen.

In reply, Moseley compiled 176 for three Huw Jones top scoring on 66 not out with Abdul Hafeez on 46 seeing them home with eight overs to spare.

Stand-in skipper Tom Watts, who himself took a wicket, admitted the club were putting into action a plan conceived at the turn of the season.

“There were a few sides that we lost to in the first half of the season that we felt, as a team we should not have and one of those sides was Old Hill. We sat down and discussed about putting those scores right.

“The next four or five weeks we’ve got sides who are in the bottom half of the league and it’s important for us to come out of those games with the upperhand as when we get to the end of the season those matches will be important.”

Not that those games will be pushovers - third from bottom Kenilworth Wardens accounted for league leaders Wombourne last week, enabling Moseley to close within six points of them at the top of the table.

On Saturday they take on second from bottom Old Hill away in a game they’ll be looking to take another 20pts from.

l Dorridge, who beat Walmley last week, play Coventry & NW away on Saturday.
