SOLIHULL Chess Club is celebrating after an incredibly successful season.
The Widney Lane-based outfit saw their teams clinch the third, fifth and sixth divisions in the Birmingham District Chess Leagues but also the third division of the Leamington League.
Not only that but third team regular Louise Coxon picked up the womens titles at the Blackpool and Leicester Congresses.
To further cement the progress of the club, the first team maintained their position in the top tier of the Birmingham League and has now launched ambitious plans to land the title.
“We’re looking for high grade players to maintain our status in the division and push for more titles,” said spokesman John Green.
“In addition we’re setting up a Solihull Chess Academy to help promote and improve the game.”
John added that players of all abilities are welcome at the club with everyone sure to get a good game at whatever level they play at.
The players are currently deep into their own club championship with the new season due to start in September.
They’re based at the Blossomfield Club in Widney Lane and play on a Wednesday evening from 7pm.
