Solihull Cycling Club's Jack Ravenscroft lines up for European Cyclo-Cross Championships

SOLIHULL Cycling Club’s Jack Ravenscroft heads to Ipswich this weekend in the European Cyclo-Cross Championships.

It’s a dream come true for the 16-year-old who first tasted glory when he won the British Schools best all rounder as an under 12.

More success followed when he clinched the national series as an Under 14, after which he joined Solihull CC to take advantage of their coaching and camaraderie.

“Solihull CC has been a massive help for me. Regular sessions with Robin Fox and other coaches have improved my riding no end and the support has given me in terms of transport and assistance at races has been a massive help for me and my family.”

His potential was spotted last year by British Cycling who put him in their Talent Team programme and that’s been followed with an invitation to join the Olympic Development Programme in January of next year.

The European Cyclo Cross Championships however pose a different problem. “I’m incredibly excited about riding at the Euros,” said Ravenscroft. “I have no idea how I’ll perform so I’m just going to go and get stuck in and have fun at the same time.”
