BRITISH Cycling have sung the praises of Solihull Cycling Club’s youth coaching structure and it’s little wonder after another clutch of successes by local youngsters.
Cream of the crop was Lucy Shaw who rode all the race with the U16 boys and easily out-paced her rivals to take the win. Team-mate Sophie Faulkener also made it onto the podium for a perfect finish.
At the other end of the age scale nine-year-old Solihull schoolboy Jack Rootkin-Gray stormed to his sixth race win in a row in the U10 race. Meanwhile in the U12 race Shaw’s younger brother Matt led home the all-conquering Solihull squad of Ben Breakwell, James Alexander, James Upton, Jacob Knight and Harrison Knight who filled six of the top ten places.
It wasn’t all good news though; further afield Solihull’s national U16 cyclo cross champion Jack Ravenscroft crashed heavily and withdrew from the Dalby Forest meeting of the National Mountain Bike series.
