Solihull cyclist Joe Fox snapped up by pro racing team.

SOLIHULL cyclist Joe Fox has been awarded a place on a prestigious UK-based professional cycling team.

SOLIHULL cyclist Joe Fox has been awarded a place on a prestigious UK-based professional cycling team. Fox, aged 18, from Shirley, was an outstanding Under-16 rider but lost two years of junior competition through illness.

However, after recovering last year and impressing in last season’s senior national cyclo-cross races, Fox has been offered a place on the MG-Maxifuel ProCycling team.

The team is led by Swedish rider Magnus Backstedt, former winner of a Tour de France stage in 2004 and the famous - and gruelling - one day classic, Paris – Roubaix.

For Fox, it means a chance to ride prestigious events like the televised Halfords Tour Series, a round of which will be held in Redditch in the spring.
