Solihull Municpal back to winning ways

SOLIHULL Municipal Bowls have moved up to 6th in the Birmingham Bowls Association League Division 1, after a 4-2 win at Brick Kiln Lane against the West Midlands Police.

SOLIHULL Municipal Bowls have moved up to 6th in the Birmingham Bowls Association League Division 1, after a 4-2 win at Brick Kiln Lane against the West Midlands Police.

The Muni for a third time this season lost a rink by a single shot, as Phil Holmes, Keith Miller, Tony Burdett and John Herbert lost 15-16. Grahame Spiby skipped John Bentien, Bryan Jones and John Hanmore to a 19-11 Muni win and earn the two aggregate points as well.

In Division 2 the Muni B team travelled to play Sherwood Park C and returned with all six points, putting them up to third in the league, with a game in hand.

Muni also travelled to Handsworth Wood to compete in the BBA Jubilee Shield.

The team of Clive Burbage, Brian Trindle , Geoff Wyatt and John Herbert won two of their games and were only beaten 5-4 in their last game to finish second. The trophy was won for the third year running by Tame Anker.

Solihull Municipal’s Captain’s Trophy was won by Jean Miller, Bill Preston and skip Clive Burbage, with two wins and a draw, while Janet Tricklebank, John Hanmore and skip Mo Yeomans were runners up.
