SIX talented athletes from Solihull and Small Heath Athletics Club have been selected to compete in the English Schools Athletics Championships.

Holly Eales and Lizi Parry both qualified for the high jump, Beth Reuben competed in the 100m sprint, and Madelaine Smith was selected for the 80m hurdles.

Tudor Grange pupils Connie James and Tom Graves joined the group in the long jump and 800m respectively.

All six were selected after their successful performances at the recent West Midlands Schools and Warwickshire Schools Championships.

Coach Mike Dolby was full of praise for the group and said their success should make the borough proud.

“To compete at the English Schools Athletic Championships is the highest honour a young athlete can aspire to attend due to very difficult entry standards.”
