Solihull's Blythe Barracudas claim 17 wins at gala

BLYTHE Barracuda’s younger swimmers opened up their campaign in the Nuneaton Junior League with an impressive second place spot.

BLYTHE Barracuda’s younger swimmers opened up their campaign in the Nuneaton Junior League with an impressive second place spot.

Blythe claimed a superb 17 first place finishes out of a possible 51 events with nine individual and eight relay event successes.

For the girls, nine-year-old Charlotte Rigg won her 50m freestyle event and there were also wins for 11-year-old Victoria Long in the 50m backstroke and Scarlett Flynn in her 50m breaststroke. Rosie Breslin was first in the 11 and under 50m backstroke and Maddie O’Donnell claimed first in the 12 and under 50m breaststroke event. Grace Dowse impressed with a first place in her 50m freestyle event.

For the boys, nine-year-old Fraser Blackhurst won the 50m breaststroke event and there were also wins for Tom O’Hanlon in the 11 and under 50m backstroke and Jack Wilson in the 12 and under 50m breaststroke.

The solid team performance was capped with the girls dominating their relay events with seven victories and the boys 12 and under 4 x 25m freestyle team rounded off a successful gala.
