THE youth section of Solihull CC produced more superb wins last weekend to show just how much they are improving.
At Round 3 of the National Trophy Cyclo-Cross Series at Chantry Park in Ipswich Joe Fox produced a stunning performance to win the Youth event. He was ninth after the first loop before powering his way through to join Hugo Robinson, the local rider and race favourite. These two broke clear of the bunch before Joe dropped Hugo on lap three to finish on his own 15 seconds clear. His brother Danny put in another good ride to finish in the top 10 and Jack Ravenscroft overcame a broken chain and bike change to finish fourth in his category.
In the Midlands the rest of the youth section tackled Round 6 of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League (WMCCL) Series at Welland Valley and young Matt Shaw took his second win in a row. He topped the U10 race with a mature ride by, again, overpowering Matthew Lewis of Wolverhampton Wheelers with a clutch of SolihullCC riders following him in.
Ben Breakwell led in James Alexander and Harrison Knight again, for fourth, fifth and sixth with Oliver Gunn just behind in seventh. James Upton took 14th spot and Jack Rootkin-Gray was 23rd with another super ride that saw him finish second in the U8 category. In the U12 race a strong ride by Ciera McKeown took her to 20th place but fifth girl.
Meanwhile, amongst the adults, Ben Wilson missed out on a podium place in the criterium race at the World Masters Games Down Under.
