Streeter drops shot but still romps home

Paul Streeter could afford to drop a shot on his penultimate hole – and still romp home to victory in the Midlands Assistants Pro-Am, at Shirley Golf Club.

Paul Streeter could afford to drop a shot on his penultimate hole – and still romp home to victory in the Midlands Assistants Pro-Am, at Shirley Golf Club.

He finished three shots clear of the field, with a trio of golfers sharing the second place spoils.

Streeter, of Lincoln Golf Centre, carded seven birdies around the West Midlands course, on his way to a six-under par, total of 66. Four of those came in the opening six holes, and his double on the 17th wasn’t to deny him the top prize. Solihull’s Adam Norman was one of the trio of golfers to return a 69, showing his fondness of the Shirley course – he won the club’s Charity Pro-Am in June.

Sharing second were Mapperley’s Tim Newman and Brampton Heath’s Daniel Wood, with Jamie Hillier, of Harborne, a further shot behind.
