Solihull Municipal Bowls Club have enjoyed yet another wonderful week of success, following surprise successes in the leagues and Walker Trophy.
In the Birmingham League, Muni A were away to West Midlands Police on the unpredictable Tally Ho green.
Initially the Muni seemed unable to marry the weight and line of the green, but then the magic of the magnificent Muni men kicked in and they drew clear of their hosts to win on both rinks for a most meaningful 6-0 points victory, which could cement the Muni’s position in the first division for next year.
Despite falling 9-0 down early on, Graham Spiby skipped John Herbert, Bryan Jones and Nigel Walker to a super 25-11 success against Ken Benjamin, Ted Thane, John Bethell and Phil Hall from the police. The Muni’s Phil Holmes, Geoff Wyatt, Tony Burdett and Keith Miller also came from behind to win 19-14 against the hosts Brian Rogers, Geoff Smith, John Taylor and Chris Jenkins.
At Brick Kiln Lane, the Muni Ladies enjoyed a great 5-2 win over their good neighbours Blossomfield, thanks to a win and a draw in a very friendly close contest.
