A TENNIS tournament whose past winners include Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, Tim Henman, Jeremy Bates, Anna Keothavong and Maria Kirilenko starts its week-long run of competition in the borough this Saturday, July 14.

The Solihull Junior International Tennis Tournament, which has been running for over 30 years, attracts junior players from all over the UK and abroad.

Age groups for the tournament, to be held at the Solihull Arden Club, are under 9, under 10 and under 12 year olds – and competition is fierce with the standard of tennis so high that fans will be watching the future stars of British tennis in action.

Jake Hersey, from the Solihull Arden Club, the 2010 national under 10 champion, will be in action together with club mates Ben Brewster and Charlie Richardson, all now playing at under 12 level.

Jake and Ben have already been selected to play for GB in 2012 and acquitted themselves with great credit.

The club is situated off Sharmans Cross Road - just follow signs to the rugby club - and play will start at around 9am each day, weather permitting, with the finals to be played on Saturday July 21, starting at 10am.
