IN a see-saw match, Hamps suffered a frustrating afternoon, taking the lead three times and losing the advantage every time.

Dafydd Bowles opened the scoring, tapping in from a Rhys Doherty cross. However as Hamps pushed up, Finchfield were able to break and score.

Bowles then took his tally past 40 for the season with a second but the visitors levelled and then again after Doherty had made it 3-2.

Meanwhile against Nottingham seconds, Hamps second team also drew 3-3 before losing 11-2 away at Nottingham University on the Sunday.

There was better news from the Ladies 1st team who beat Belper 2-0.

It was a crucial game for Hampton and they started slightly tentatively, but were able to soak up the pressure from several Belper attacks.

Hampton’s use of the wings led to several crosses into the D which could not be collected by the forwards, but finally the side saw reward as first team debutant Annabel Knight sent the ball over the keeper to give Hampton the lead.

The second half saw Hampton dominate more. And it was Barratt who would make the victory secure late on, crashing home a penalty corner shot.

In their second match of the weekend, Hampton-in-Arden ladies’ 1st team put in an encouraging performance despite losing out to Edgbaston ladies’ 1st team by three goals to nil.
