WITH the World Master Squash competition starting in Birmingham this week, West Warwickshire Sports Club played host to a team of top Australian Masters players.

The line up included for Australia, Michelle Martin, six times British Open Champion and former world number one; Geoff Davenport a Masters specialist; Glen Hitch from Sydney, currently top 8 in the Over 35s; and Jane Kennedy, a South African globetrotter now living in Australia.

First on court Glen Hitch was second best in a classy game against Chris Ryder who took the match 3-1. Bruce Hopkin took on Jane Kennedy, losing in three.

Michelle Martin showed why she was one of the best women players ever to grace the court against Sarah-Jane Perry. Sarah-Jane proved too much for Michelle who lost in four tight games.

This put the match score at 2-1 to West Warks with the full house eagerly awaiting the clash of the night between the invincible Geoff Davenport and Frank “The Tank” Ellis. After three brutal games, Frank won a great match for a 3-1 home win.
