HIGH-flying Alex Davies finished in fourth position of the ICT Players Championships at Collingtree Park last week.
Representing Solihull College, the 16-year-old shot four-over par over 36 holes to add to keep his recent fine form ticking over.
The teenager has already won the 2009 British Colleges Golf Championship and he was overjoyed to have done so well in Northampton.
“Winning this competition is a really big deal for me, especially as the field was very strong. I was one under par after the first 18 holes, only one stroke off the lead.
“The course was in immaculate condition, but the strong wind made it a tough challenge. I’m pleased with how I prepared for this competition, it’s given me a lot of confidence for further competitions.”
Andrew Schneider, England Golf AASE Academy Manager at Solihull College, said: “Alex has done exceptionally well, we’re all really proud of his achievement.
“He’s excelled in all the competitions, and along with his team mates, is continuing to strengthen the reputation of Solihull College as a centre for nurturing the best golfing talent in the Midlands.”
