THE 2009 EWGA Midlands South County Week will be taking place on home turf for Warwickshire Amateur Golfers with Solihull’s Ladbrook Park Golf Club set to host the prestigious inter-county event.

Top female golfers from Worcestershire/Herefordshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire will join those from Warwickshire as they battle it out over five days from June 22-26.

Over 120 people will be attending the opening reception on Sunday June 21 which marks the start of a highly competitive week.

The competition is a round robin affair with 36 holes being played each day.

Warwickshire will open their programme against Oxfordshire and other first day action sees Northamptonshire face Worcestershire/Herefordshire and Berkshire take on close rivals Buckinghamshire.

The Warwickshire team, who came a very creditable third in the English County Finals last year after landing the regional crown, have almost the same line up.

The team has mature heads on board with Lisa Barton (Coventry), Claire Howells (Moor Hall) and Elizabeth Galland (The Warwickshire) backed up by the experienced Hannah Coles (Maxstoke Park), Charlotte Dalton (Ladbrook Park), Abbey Gittings (Walmley) and Liz Haycock (Moseley).

Emerging young talent completes the line up thanks to four teenagers – Lauren Taylor (Rugby), Elizabeth Mallett (Sutton Coldfield), Ashley Cramond (The Warwickshire) and Hannah McLoughlin (Sutton Coldfield).

There will be some excellent golf on display and spectators are welcome.

Results will be available at the end of each day at www.warksgolf.co.uk/ladies.
