KNOWLE and Dorridge Cricket Club brushed aside Leamington Spa in the league but exited the Cockspur National Twenty20 knock-out last weekend.
After Knowle and Dorridge dismissed Leamington for 201, with David Bailey hitting 76, Warwickshire’s Richard Johnson (70) and Staffordshire’s Attiq Chishti (68 not out) eased their side to a seven wicket win, with the help of Will Mottram who took four for 53 in the Leamington innings.
Knowle and Dorridge now sit in third place in the Premier Division.
In the Twenty20 knock-out competition Knowle & Dorridge defeated Kenilworth Wardens by nine wickets in the first game of the day.
Richard Bush (41) and Martin Donald (36) saw Wardens to 136 for seven with Knowle and Dorridge’s Will Mottram taking 3 for 26.
Luke Parker (70 not out) and Alec Baker (55 not out) smashed the Premier Division side to victory with nearly six overs in hand.
In contrast they struggled to 111 all out, in 18.2 overs, against Division One Dorridge in the second game of the day, with Parker striking 37.
Tariq Mohammed picked up four for 13 but it needed an unbeaten 48 from Kasir Shah to see Dorridge to a one wicket win with two balls to spare.
Mottram (3 for 21) and Reece Saunders (3 for 19) almost pulled Knowle and Dorridge through, but it wasn’t enough to keep them in the competition.
* Knowle and Dorridge travel to table toppers Barnt Green tomorrow (Saturday).
