MATHS teacher Ben Watkins added another trophy to his growing collection in the Solihull Tennis Club annual championships.
The Silhillian managed to defeat club captain Dave Foster (6-2, 6-1) in the singles finals - and now aims to beat his rival’s record. The victory saw Watkins notch up his fourth successive single title, with six in a row the current record.
It wasn’t all bad news for Foster though, who managed to win the mens’ doubles with Titus Ninan (7-5, 6-3). Elsewhere Gail Burrows and John Cox took the mixed doubles title (3-6, 6-2, 6-2), with Burrows also winning the ladies doubles final with Julia Sherlock.
In the club’s boys final, Michael Moseley, aged 17, beat last year’s finalist Samir Ahmed in three sets.
