TWO Copt Heath junior stars have won places to play with the legends at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship at Nailcote Hall.
The Open Par 3 Championships at Nailcote Hall on June 12 saw two junior events for eight to 12 year-olds and 13 to 17 year-olds.
On a very wet and chilly day, the talented youngsters braved the elements to produce some highly entertaining and top quality golf.
In the 13-17s, the competition was intense but at the end of the day Copt Heath’s 8 handicapper 16 year-old Marcus Mollison came in with a terrific net score of 57 followed just one shot behind by Joe Macilwraith and Sam Gill both with net scores of 58 for their 18 holes. George Gray finished fourth with 61.
In the 8-12s, the competition wasn’t quite as intense with winner Stephen Gnyla, a 5 handicap 12 year-old from Copt Heath, producing the best rounds of the day to score a net 53, the only under par score of the event.
In second place, Jacob Richardson got home in just 58 shots and in third place George Gill finished with a score of 60. Josh Davenport was fourth with a score of 63.
The two winners Marcus Mollison and Stephen Gnyla can look forward to an exciting two days at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship on August 10-11 with all the stars of the European Tour, Senior Tour and celebrities in competition at Nailcote Hall.
The two youngsters can certainly look forward to plenty of support from the club members at Copt Heath Golf Club who should be very proud of their efforts in qualifying.
