TWO young Solihull tennis players played a vital part in helping Team GB to a victory in a junior tennis competition in India.

Team GB won the overall title after winning four ties in five days at the IC Junior Challenge World Finals in New Delhi.

Tom Hill and Alannah Griffin, both from Solihull, competed with Tommy Bennett and Harriet Dart in the tournament that went right down to the wire.

Having defeated India (A and B), USA and New Zealand, the team finished in a tie for first place with Germany and India A.

The title came down to a mixed doubles match tie-break, which Harriet Dart and Tommy Bennett won 10-6 against the German pair.

LTA Coach Helen Reesby praised the youngsters for holding their nerve in the tie-break.

“It was a very exciting ending and great for GB to take the title,” she said.
