YOUNG golfer Rob Holland won the Olton Boys’ Open Golf Tournament last week after a tense final.
For the first time in the competition’s history, the winner had to be selected via a play-off over the first three holes.
Patrick Skakel, 17, (Copt Heath GC), Mike Pell, 16, (Olton GC) and Rob Holland, 18, (Walmley Golf Club) all tied with a final score of 142.
In the play-off, Pell got into trouble with trees and dropped out, leaving Holland and Skakel to yet again draw over the three holes.
The two then played sudden death down to the fourth hole and this time there was a winner, as Holland made a par to win the trophy.
