NEW coach Sarah Brown was given the perfect welcome after watching her young Solihull Swimming Club side pick up an incredible 72 medals at the Coventry & District Relay Gala on Saturday.

The Tudor Grange club took 68 swimmers to the event held at Coventry baths for Brown’s first competitive event.

And it was certainly one to remember for the former Loughborough Town coach after an impressive performance from her young team who competed against top clubs like City of Coventry and Stratford Sharks.

The evening saw excellent swims from the nine-year old boys Alex Dolphin, Fraser Luckhurst, Louie Boot and Matt Madden who won the freestyle relay.

Ben Smith, Owen Hastings, Adam Page and David Comer came first in the 15+ boys free relay and Charlotte Graham, Emily Kelly, Claire Haines and Jo McGurk won the 15+ girls free and medley relay.

Solihull competed in every race with some of the younger swimmers competing for the first time in a gala.

Solihull Swimming Club next takes to the water on February 21 for the Trophy Gala at Tudor Grange.
