Olton turned in a solid performance for a winning draw against Kenilworth at Grange Rd on Saturday in the Warwickshire Premier League.

Mike Ceillam and Ed Sykes made a steady start for 46 for the home side when Sykes was dismissed by Goodman for 20.

Goodman went on to take five for 62. Olton batted on, Ceillam eventually making 42, Docker 29, Gately 26 and Webb 34.

Scott Ellis (27) guided the tail through to 237-9 with the last three wickets making 56 in just nine overs.

An opening stand of 43 got Kenilworth off to a good start, their innings similar to Olton’s for long periods and at 30 overs their score matched Olton’s at the same stage at 128 for 5.

Sunil Vykaranam’s spell of 15 overs came to an end with 3-53 but leg spinner Docker took up the challenge.

Olton needed to dismiss Goodman - who went on to make 75 - however when they took the eighth wicket at 198 with six overs to go Kenilworth decided the win was not on and batted out to finish on 214-8.

The previous Monday, Olton’s Under 11 side became WCB County champions when they defeated Stratford in the final at Warwick CC. Olton made 317-4 (net 297) and with fine bowling restricted Stratford to 295-9 (net 250) to win by 45 runs.
