WHILE Solihull RUFC were getting battered by the wind and rain in their local derby against Camp Hill on Saturday, winger Dino Markou, pictured, was in altogether more glamorous surroundings in the south of France.

Far from putting his feet up however, the club’s star winger was in fact playing for his national side, Cyprus.

Qualifying through both parents, Saturday marked his third full international cap. Dino helped Cyprus to a 44-0 drubbing of Monaco, dashing 40 metres to score a try.

“We play in the IRB European League Three, with Bosnia, Monaco, Azerbaijan and Slovakia, and we’ve now won nine out of our first ten matches,” said Dino.

“My best moment was my first cap in 2007) but my worst was tearing my hamstring against Azerbaijan - I missed six months for both club and country!”
