BASEMENT boys Camp Hill suffered another defeat – this time at the hands of league leaders Bromsgrove.

Despite the concession of five first half tries this 80-minute display was a considerable improvement on the previous week’s hammering at Hereford and, in fact, Camp Hill conceded no second half points while earning seven from a converted try.

Bromsgrove made a telling start when blindside flanker Nigel Burrows crashed over the line after seven minutes.

Within ten further minutes skipper Richard Arnold profited from a five metre scrum to dive over with fly half Ben Copson adding the conversion .

Camps were showing far more resilience in defence but three further tries ensued before the break from openside flanker Chris McGregor, inside centre Dan Quinn and right wing Richard Stockholm.

Copson added one further conversion.

After the break Ian Briggs improved Pete Koziot’s touchdown as the hosts restored some pride with a positive second half performance.

Elsewhere Cheltenham defeated Camp Hill Ladies 32-18 in the Cheltenham Challenge Cup.

Tries from Jo Hart and Elaine Limond were backed up by two penalties from winger Kath Adie but the points were not enough to help Camps to success.
