SOLIHULL rugby club Berkswell & Balsall RFC together with Old Coventrians have been deducted 15 league points from the start of the 2011/12 season following the abandonment of their Midlands Two West (South) match on March 26.
The sanction was imposed by a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel at the Coventry M6 Holiday Inn hotel on Tuesday night.
Each club will have a further ten point deduction suspended for the duration of the 2011/12 season.
Berkswell and Old Coventrians both admitted two charges of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Union and/or Game contrary to Rule 5.12 of the Rules of the RFU 2010-11.
Callum McCluskey of Old Coventrians also admitted a charge of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Union and/or Game by trampling on an opponent during the match. He was suspended for four weeks and is free to resume training on May 11.
John Arnold of Berkswell & Balsall admitted a charge of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Union and/or Game by striking an opponent during the match. Arnold was suspended for three weeks but will be free to resume playing on April 19 having already served a two weeks suspension imposed by his club.
The RFU panel comprised His Honour Judge Sean Enright (chairman), John Brennan and Geoff Payne.
