SOLIHULL & Shirley Badminton Club’s mixed first team were in action this week against a strong Birmingham University side in the first division.
Head Coach Chris Tonks and Claire Millward managed to pick up two rubbers but the match ended in a disappointing 5-4 loss. The side will be looking for their revenge in a few week’s time.
All three Men’s teams played in the Solihull League. In the Men’s first team, Vinnay Mistry and Liam Styler played well against Activ Sports’ second team in the first division, which ended in a 6-0 loss.
It was a close match for the Men’s second team which ended in a 3-3 draw against Longmeadow in the second division. George Ollivent and Will Kitching won their last rubbers to bring it back from 3-1 down. Unfortunately S & S lost 8-6 on games.
S&S Men’s thirds had a 5-1 victory over Activ Sports 3. Initial pairings of Luke Perrins and Elliot Clarke together with Ajay Mistry and Sulieman Rangel proved too strong for the opposition, and S&S raced into a 4-0 lead. As the pairs went into the splits, Luke and Sulieman remained undefeated while Elliot and Ajay lost in three games to a spirited fight back from Activ Sports.
S & S have recently set up new groups for the primary schools and also for adult beginners. Please contact Paul on email@example.com if you would like to know more.
