Birmingham & Solihull Rugby Club have added five players to their squad ahead of the new season.
New Zealand Sevens training squad member Warwick Lahmert, who starred in this year’s Samurai International Middlesex Sevens winning side, comes in at fly half, with Solihull-born scrum half Alex Stajka, formerly with Rugby Lions, completing the half back pairing.
Welshman and utility back Greg Evans, who has had stints with London Welsh, Worcester and most latterly Neath, will be joined in the back division by England Academy player Charlie Sadler, who is currently with the Northampton Saints Academy and will be dual-registered with the Bees this year.
Completing the latest batch of new recruits is another product of the Saints Academy Sam Farmer, who plays in the three back row.
Bees Director of Rugby Russell Earnshaw said: “These latest signings are part of the process of re-building the squad for the new season. In Warwick Lahmert we have a player of proven quality who will be filling a vital positional role for us this year. Alex, Charlie and Sam are younger players with massive potential, whilst Greg will bring some important experience to our back division.”
The Bees entertain Welsh side Carmarthen Quins in a pre-season friendly at Damson Park tomorrow, (Saturday), with their National League Division One campaign kicking off at home to Ealing Trailfinders on Saturday, August 27.
