Berkswell & Balsall RFC 38
Bs third victory of the season, including a try scoring bonus point, was a firm sign that they are settling well in a higher league following their promotion last spring.
Although Hereford consistently attempted to take the initiative they were actually playing catch-up from the fourth minute when a fine try by Joe Cart was converted by Sam Bignell. Bignell then scored a try of his own before slotting a penalty, a Hereford try making it 15-7 at half-time.
Bs looked comfortable after another penalty but home nerves were frayed when the visitors reduced the deficit to 18-14 with another goal. Bignell’s boot was keeping Bs ticking over as Hereford narrowed the gap to 21-19.
Then the referee awarded the home team a penalty try having adjudged the visitors had pulled down a driving maul. With that the fight went out of Hereford as Bs romped in with another brace of tries to seal the win.
