Warwickshire Cup – semi final
RUGBY Lions progressed to the Warwickshire Cup Final as they used their superior ball carrying and speed to clinically take their chances.
Berkswell were far from disgraced however and took the game to their higher-ranked opponents, competing well in the forwards and enjoying large amounts of possession in Lions’ territory, resulting in three tries of their own.
Rugby scored an early try and then, crucially, two more just before half-time, including one in the final minute of the first half.
Rugby were 21-3 ahead at half-time, but Berkswell started the second half the better.
B’s came back straight after the break and were only 11 points down after an hour.
Three Lions’ tries in the final quarter gave the final score a lop-sided look, each one a breakaway from inside their own half, as Berkswell’s handling errors were pounced on by Rugby’s accomplished backs.
