BERKSWELL moved to within a single point of second place in the league in this Midlands West 2 (South) fixture, despite playing for an hour with only 14 men.

B’s had raced into a 21-0 interval lead with three converted tries, but had to weather extended pressure from the visitors in the second half before sealing the result with two late tries.

Berkswell’s reduced numbers were the result of a harsh red card for flanker Joe Cart. The referee also yellow carded the home full-back just before half time in what was far from a difficult game to control.

OL’s kicked off playing up the slope and enjoyed most of the early possession. However the B’s forward power was decisive as the early Laurent’s pressure gave way to some typically effective home pack surges.

The result sets up an interesting last game of the season against local rivals second placed Silhillians on Saturday.
