RUSSELL Earnshaw's Birmingham & Solihull Bees kick-off their pre-season campaign with a friendly against Bridgend Ravens on Saturday.
The full-time hosts will be looking to impress on home soil as they prepare for an immediate return to National One following last season's relegation.
Powerhouse prop Craig Voisey will also be looking for a positive performance as he lines up against his former employers.
The visitors, who ply their trade in the Welsh Premier Division, will certainly be full of confidence following their emphatic 92-7 victory over Kenfig Hill last week.
Earnshaw has set a strict workout regime ahead of the season and the players have just returned from a five-day training camp with the army down in Surrey.
Whether the hard work has paid off will become evident on September 6 when the Bees start their National Two adventure at Redruth.
There will be free entry to Saturday's game - call 0121 705 0409 or visit: www.beesrugby. com for information.
Last week the club announced that their five-year sponsorship deal with the Pertemps Group had ended
Pertemps chairman Tim Watts said they had ploughed more than £500,000 into the club in the areas of sponsorship and investment at Portway.
Bees spokeswoman Jo Kilby admitted the club had other deals in the pipeline but that nothing concrete had been agreed.
Meanwhile the Bees will be in Birmingham from 6pm tonight as they link up with England stars Danny Cipriani and Nick Easter in the O2 Scrum on the Beach in Centenary Square.
The Square will be transformed into an urban beach full of sand for an exciting day of fun rugby activities
