Camp Hill 21 Stoke on Trent 22

Despite seven unavoidable team changes, this was a disappointing Midlands Division One West performance that Camp Hill may prefer to forget.

Despite seven unavoidable team changes, this was a disappointing Midlands Division One West performance that Camp Hill may prefer to forget.

Although Stoke took an early lead through a penalty, Camp Hill levelled through centre Ian Briggs.

The second half was just two minutes old when Briggs kicked his second three-pointer for Camps but the visitors took the lead with a try from flanker Aaron Horne.

The home side responded quickly, lock Chris Goddard finding hooker Ryan Large who chased his own kick ahead, re-collected and steamed over for his maiden Camp Hill try.

Almost immediately, replacement full back Ben Simon made a break releasing right wing Sam Yarwood on a mazy run for a 16 - 8 scoreline.

Stoke quickly replied first with a converted try and then with a penalty try.

Camps made a final effort when a super break saw Jim Oliver dive over to bring his side to within a point of Stoke.

Sadly the conversion from the corner was missed.

On Saturday, Camp Hill travel to Stratford upon Avon in Midlands Division One West. Kick off is at 2.15 p.m.
