A SLUGGISH start from Camp Hill saw the Liverpool outfit take an early 7-0 lead.

However captain Becci Lewis read the riot act and before long fullback Jo Kilby tore through the opposition’s defence to dot down under the posts for an easy Lewis’ conversion.

In part courtesy of Birkenhead’s direct approach, much of the first half was an arm wrestle that neither side got on top of but with 10 minutes to play it was Camps that finished the half in pole position - powerful carries from lock Christie Foster and open-side flanker Lucy Pollard providing the clean ball Beckie Williams needed at scrum-half to release her backs.

Fly-half Jo Hart pulled the strings for outside centre Charlotte Hewer to dash untouched through Park’s leaden footed defence for her sixth of the season (14-7).

In the second half, Camp Hill never looked back as they sent Birkenhead packing with six tries and 34 unanswered points.

The Chargers will next week travel to Liverpool, but this time to meet league leaders Waterloo in what is unequivocally the championship decider.
