IT’S the proverbial 10 pointer this Saturday as Bees travel north to South Shields to take on Westoe in National League 2 North.
Westoe sit third from bottom in the relegation zone with Birmingham Solihull just above, and separated by just eight points.
Win, and Bees will take a massive leap to safety; lose and they could be right back in the relegation dogfight that has been their story for the last three years.
However the Portway side should have its tail up. A heartening win against Sheffield Tigers has boosted confidence and they have the comfort of knowing they beat tomorrow’s hosts 21-8 when they visited the Midlands.
In addition, wounded bodies will have healed meaning Bees should be close to or at full strength.
The pack appear to be in fine form while director of rugby Eugene Martin has spoken warmly of a growing understanding between a team which, at the start of the season, was largely untried.
Add in the bonus of having a lock of the capabilities of Henno Ventnor, the forwards coach, on the bench, and the second half achilles heel of leadership issues shouldn’t surface.
It’s sure to be a tough, hard game against a side bordering on desperation.
If four tries are beyond Bees they’re sure to settle for just the win, and four precious points.
Come on you Bees!
