EDS struggled to get into gear and quickly found themselves 13 – 0 down.

Edwardians eventually answered through centre Luke Mason on 20 minutes. Moments later it was fullback Dan Johnson’s turn to further reduce the deficit to 13-10.

Undeterred, the home team scored a couple of tries of their own.

Eds coach John Corr duly read the riot act and this immediately bore fruit with Johnson getting his second try. A successfully conversion by fly half Dave Gray made it 25–17.

Gray then nailed a penalty just before half time to rescue arrears to five.

Unfortunately the second half started much the same way the first half did, with two good scores from the home team, extending the score to 35 – 20.

Eds made several opportunities that were stopped by a determined defence. However Captain and centre John Ferdinand did manage to score as the final whistle blew.

Edwardians look forward to welcoming Handsworth to Streetsbrook Road in April for a chance to even the score.

This week’s game is a home tie against Stourbridge Lions with an expected kick off time of 2.15pm.

Rugby fans are invited to go on down and support their local team.
