Exiles call for support

HAVING seen their last two fixtures fall foul of the weather, Birmingham Exiles RUFC are putting out a call to all club members past and present to turn up in force for the club’s first fixture of 2010.

HAVING seen their last two fixtures fall foul of the weather, Birmingham Exiles RUFC are putting out a call to all club members past and present to turn up in force for the club’s first fixture of 2010.

The game, which takes place against Alcester at the club’s Bickenhill ground tomorrow (Saturday), kicks off at 2.15pm.

The club will be hoping for a better year after recording no wins in the current season during 2009.

“The lads have been training extremely hard, and as a community club, we would welcome maximum support,” said Andy Root, the club’s development officer.

The Exiles held a charity quiz in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance Service last week, in which over 90 people braved the wintery weather to attend at O’Neill’s pub in Poplar Road.

The winning team ‘Tiger Woods’ read about the event in the News, and helped the evening raise over £500 for the charity.
