Copsewood 15 B’ham Exiles 17
EXILES completed a league double over the Coventry outfit by a gasp: a conversion attempt to level the score in the closing minutes hit a post and bounced out.
Exiles got off to a flyer, outside centre Dylan Baker going over in the corner from the kick off.
Soon after, the hosts’ cut the gap to two points with a penalty goal.
Exiles began the second half confidently, and extended their lead through a try by stand off Calum McGee converted by winger Alex Warrillow.
At around the hour mark, Copsewood conceded a penalty and were then marched back a further ten metres for dissent. Passing up a kick at goal, Exiles’ pack drove at the line and lock Jamie Avery found a gap to touch down for a try.
In reply Copsewood attacked down the right resulting in a five-metre lineout. A catch, drive and rolling maul ended in a try, the conversion narrowing the gap to seven points.
Copsewood now had the wind in their sails and scored once more with just the conversion needed to draw the sides level.
The ball looked to be just going over, but bounced the wrong side of the crossbar.
No more points came and Es held out for victory.
