Leek 18 Silhillians 25
SILHILLIANS continued their winning streak of 10 games in a row to go top of Midlands 2 West (North) after clinching this difficult fixture against a team previously undefeated at home in 12 matches.
The Leek outfit quickly showed why they are a difficult prospect at home, going 6-0 ahead after nine minutes.
This was followed on the half hour by an unconverted try out wide.
Although 11-0 down the Sils had the self-confidence to bounce back, the mercurial Matt Lee bursting through from full back to go over the whitewash with skipper Pete Nichols adding a second, both unconverted.
After the re-start a Harry Law penalty pushed Sils ahead then on the hour mark Denis Daly burst through the Leek cover on the right wing to score, Law adding the extras.
Leek hit back, closing the gap to 18-20 with a sniping try, and only a magnificent tackle from Daly stopped another score.
Inspired, the last 10 minutes saw Sils camped on the Leek five metre line with a series of scrums from which Sils Number 8 Cameron Law forced his way over to score Sils fourth try earning them a bonus point as well as the well earned victory.
Sils are away trip to Moseley Oak, kick off 2.15pm on Saturday.
