OLD Yardleians will enjoy a welcomed break from league action tomorrow as they reflect on an impressive win over Leek last week.

The Midlands Division Four West (north) side take on local rivals Old Edwardians in a friendly after recording their second league victory of the season.

Two early penalties from Jamie Walton put Yards ahead before he improved scores from Seymour Seaton and Adam Walker.

However, Leek refused to buckle under intense pressure and got themselves back into the game with a penalty try after their winger was fouled by Walker. Dan Hunt added the conversion.

The fly half added two quick-fire penalties in the second half but Yards came back strong to increase their lead.

Steve Grainger and Purdy both crashed over the line late in the game to move the home side away from the relegation zone and up into sixth place.
