SILHILLIANS RUFC U11s were presented with the cup that made them West Midlands champions on Saturday.
Premiership rugby outfit Worcester Warriors’ Director of Community Rugby, Steve Joslin, presented The Land Rover Cup to a jubilant Sils side at their Copt Heath clubhouse.
To reach the final, they fought their way through a gruelling series of matches in March - defeating Wolverhampton, the hosts Dudley Kingswinford, local rivals Balsall & Berkswell and then Shipston on Stour, before meeting a powerful Stourbridge team in a tense final. The cup could not be presented on the day as the final was tied, meaning an additional trophy had to be commissioned, hence a special presentation day for the boys a month after their win.
Coach Doug Walker said: “We were so proud of the 17 lads who represented Sils in the Land Rover Cup.”
He added: “Next season will bring more exciting challenges – trying to win the Land Rover Cup outright this time for one – as well as aiming to meet some of the other regional champions from the rugby heartlands of the East Midlands, London and the South West.”
